The Great Himalayan National Park Ramble: 10 Nts / 11 Days.
Grade: Moderate

This captivating national park give us excellent chances of viewing among other wild life the Blue Sheep, Himalayan Brown Bear, Himalayan Tahr and Musk Deer; and the Serow, Rhesus Macaque, Barking Deer, Goral, Red Fox, Langur, Gray Shrew, Giant Indian Flying Squirrel, Porcupine, Himalayan Palm Civet, Himalayan Weasel and Yellow-throated Marten. Our trek takes us on a circular trek through the park where we set up camp at pre-marked sites. A few of the treks through this park include the


Day 1: We meet you on arrival at Delhi airport and transfer you to your pre-reserved hotel. As most International flights arrive in Delhi in the early morning, the entire day is kept free for you to relax. If you feel up to it we can arrange a half day sightseeing tour of historical Old Delhi in which you visit the majestic Red Fort and the largest mosque in Asia- Jama Masjid both built in the 15 th century. We also take a stroll among the back streets reminiscent of a medieval town passing wayside vendors selling delicious Mughal cuisine besides an array of knickknacks. We return to the hotel in time for dinner and the night.

Day 2: Delhi- Chandigarh - train: 266 Kms > Manali on National Highway 21: 323Kms . After an early breakfast we transfer you to the railway station to catch the 7:40 am Shatabdi Express to Chandigarh where you reach by 11:10 am. We meet you at the station and then after lunch proceed to Manali by Jeep. The 6 to 7 hour journey takes you through the Himalayan foothills into the Outer Himalayas. On arrival at Manali by early evening we take you to your pre-reserved hotel.

Day 3: Day free in Manali. In the morning we take you on a sightseeing tour of the Hadimba Devi Temple, the Manu Rishi Temple, and the Vashisht village famous for its hot springs. Returning to town for lunch we then drive to the quaint village of Naggar once the capital of the Kullu kingdom. We visit the ancient Naggar castle now a heritage hotel; we also visit the charming cottage of the legendary artist and philosopher Nicolas Roerich. It is now a museum displaying his hauntingly beautiful landscapes and portraits. We return to your hotel by late evening.

Day 4: After breakfast we drive south through Kullu valley to the small hamlet of Aut from where a link road goes across the bridge over the Beas River into the Banjar and Sainj valleys where the Park is located. We turn off into the Sainj valley and drive 46 Kms to the small village of Neuli at 1500m / 4920ft where we set up camp for the night.

Day 5: After an early breakfast we begin our trek on a gradually ascending trail to our next camp 22 Kms away at an altitude of 2100m / 6888ft. The trail lead through shrub forest and grassy hillside till it reaches Shakti our campsite for the night.

Day 6: A lovely walk through the verdant forests of Oak, Walnut and chestnut take you to the beautiful meadows of Homkhani at 2800m / 9184ft. We set up camp here for the night.

Day 7: Today we walk in the hills near our camp to get sightings of some of the mammals and avian species in the park. Take along a packed lunch and then return to our camp by evening.

Day 8: We return to our camp at Shakti.

Day 9: Return to Neuli base camp for the night

Day 10: After breakfast we drive down to Chandigarh and check into a comfortable hotel.

Day 11: After breakfast we drive down to Delhi where we drop you off at a comfortable hotel and after a farewell dinner drive you to the airport to catch your flight to your next destination.
