The Grand Pilgrimage Tour 1 - 12 Nts / 13 Days

Haridwar on the banks of the River Ganges

Day 1: On arrival at Delhi airport we meet you and transfer you to your pre-reserved hotel. The morning is free to relax. In the afternoon we take on a half day old Delhi city tour. See the Red Fort, the mosque known as Jama Masjid both built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan many centuries ago. Return to your hotel for the night.

Day 2: Drive from Delhi to the holy town of Haridwar on the banks of the River Ganges. Check into your hotel and then after lunch stroll around the town and the banks of the River Ganges. Return to your hotel for the night.

Day 3: Drive 290 Kms to the small hamlet of Harsil an eight hour drive. We stop for lunch at Uttarkashi another holy town with numerous temples. Gangnani is another stop where you can take a dip in the hot water springs. Harsil is a beautiful valley with panoramic views of the high Himalayan ranges.

Day 4: Today we take an extended tour of the small village of Gangotri situated at 3048 metres. It has a white granite Gangotri shrine dedicated to the Goddess Ganga and built in the 18 th century on the banks of the River Bhagirathi which later becomes the Ganges. 14 Kms north is the Gaumukh glacier the source of the Ganga River. Return to your camp by afternoon and after tea drive down to the temple town of Uttarkashi. Check into a hotel.

Day 5: An eight hour drive takes us to the small hamlet of Guptkashi. We have lunch at Srinagar town en-route. We drive along the River Mandakini and reach Guptkashi by evening. Check into a deluxe camp for the night.

Day 6: Guptkashi to Gauri kund (32 Kms) by road where we check into a hotel from where we undertake a 14 Kms trek to the holy shrine of Kedarnath high in the Himalayas.

Day 7: Trek back to Gauri Kund from where we drive further south to Guptkashi to our previous camp. Get an Ayurvedic rejuvenating massage before turning in for the night.

Day 8: After breakfast we leave for the beautiful shrine of Joshimath visiting one of the most beautiful places in Uttaranchal the small hamlet of Chopta. Drive through a medicinal herbarium and arrive at Joshimath Deluxe camp by early evening. In the evening we stroll around the town and return to our camp for the night.

Day 9: Leaving Joshimath after breakfast we head on to the holy shrine of Badrinath. Stroll around the Mana village to get an insight into the people's culture and lifestyle before returning to your tented deluxe camp at Joshimath for the night.

Day 10: Today we drive for about 9 hours back to Haridwar and check into your hotel for the night.

Day 11: A short drive takes us back to Delhi where you check into your hotel. The afternoon and evening is free for shopping and other personal activities.

Day 12: Drive to Agra city - a 5 hour drive after an early breakfast. In Agra visit the legendary Taj Mahal, the Fort and the abandoned city of Fatehpur Sikri 37 Kms away. In the evening drive back to Delhi and your hotel in time for dinner.

Day 13: The day is free to explore New Delhi with its massive colonial buildings in sandstone and granite today housing Government offices, the India Gate, the Delhi Zoo and the impressive tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun before returning to your hotel for the night. I nternational flights normally leave late at night or very early in the mornings. We transfer you to the airport for your onward flight according to the flight timings.
