Manali Base of Deo Tibba

Deo Tibba

Months: May to early October
Number of Days: 5
Maximum Altitude: 4270m
Grade: Moderate to Strenuous

Day 1: Manali-Jagatsukh-Chikka. 5-6 hours.
Gradual climb from the village of Jagatsukh once the capital of Kullu state, 6 Kms south of Manali. We take the trail along the Jagatsukh stream through forests and grazing pastures for about five hours to reach Chikka (2960m) a pleasant alpine meadow. We set up camp on a green patch.

Day 2: Chikka Seri: 4-5 hours.
The trail climbs steadily towards our next campsite in the beautiful meadows of Seri. Beautiful wild alpine flowers. Extensive views of the Pir Panjal ranges to the north. Seri lies at the base of the Deo Tibba (Throne of the Gods) Base camp with a small glacial lake high on a hillside. We set up camp near the base.

Day 3: Seri- Chandratalai and back. 3-4 hours.
The trail climbs steeply, and goes across a stream and reaches a small campsite with breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks. This tiny lake is high up on a mountain ridge. Spend a few hours admiring the extensive views of the surrounding mountain peaks before returning to our Seri camp.

Day 4: Seri Chikka. 3-4 hours.
We return the same way we and set up camp on the meadows of Chikka where we spend a relaxed evening beside a roaring campfire.

Day 5: Chikka- Jagatsukh Manali. 5 hours.
Return to Jagatsukh village from where we take surface transport back to Manali.
