Manali Khirganga via Pulga

Months: May to November
Number of Days: 4
Maximum Altitude: 3020m
Grade: Moderate

Day 1: Manali- Manikaran (1700m) By surface transport 6 hours
After breakfast we drive for 4 hours to the Parvati valley and the pilgrimage town of Manikaran at 1700m famous for its Gurudwara and Hot Springs. We stop briefly and then begin our trek on a broad trail that ends at Pulga -2290m a picturesque little hamlet among thickly forested hillsides. En-route we pass by the ancient silver mines that were once worked earlier in the last century but later abandoned due to the high cost of mining. We set up camp near the Pulga glade.

Day 2: Phulga- Khirganga (3-5 hours)
This is a leisurely trek and the ascent is not that steep. The trail goes through well-forested hills with good views of the River Parvati. Reach Khirganga by early afternoon. Khirganga has an old temple and also hot springs with milky white water hence the name Kheer (rice pudding). Camp near by for the night.

Day 3: Khirganga Pulga Manikaran - 6 hours
Return the same way back to Pulga and then to Manikaran where we spend the night.

Day 4: Manikaran drive back to Manali 6 hours
We drive back via the left bank of the River Beas more scenic than the other side with its thick forests, glistening streams and cascading tiny waterfalls along side the road till we reach Manali by afternoon.
