Manali Bhrighu Lake

Months: Mid April through end June & Mid September through end October
Days: 3 Days
Maximum Altitude: 4235 metres
Grade: Easy to moderate

The small hidden lake in a meadow lies like a jewel within an amphitheatre of towering snow-clad mountains. It appears magically before you as you ascend the trail and reach a spur. The entire trail from the Gulaba Meadows is fringed by tall Cedar, Silver Oak and Birch forests and meadows bisected by glistening mountain streams. Bhrighu Lake is within a bowl like depression high in the hills. Camp is set up on the lakeshore.

Day 1: Manali Gulaba Meadows (by car) - Bhrighu Lake (4235m): 6 hours.
The trail climbs steadily through verdant forests and grazing meadows. After crossing a few streams, walking through thick forests we emerge into a green sloping meadow with the Bhrighu lake right in the centre. Excellent views of snow clad mountain peaks. We camp overnight on the shores of the lake.

Day 2: Bhrighu Lake
Relax and wander around this small lake and enjoy the silence and the tranquillity of this enchanting spot . From a spur above the lake you get excellent views of the Spiti mountain ranges. Return to camp for the night where you're greeted with a roaring campfire.

Day 3: Bhrighu Lake Vashisht Village Manali: 6 Hours.
Today the trail goes along meadows and then enters thick forests from where we trek downhill. The trail is rather steep and strenuous on the knees as walking down a steep gradient can be quite taxing. But its well worth the effort as you are afforded breathtaking views of the upper Beas Valley far below. Reach the ancient Vashisht village only a 15 minute walk from Manali.
