Number of Days: 11Nts / 12 Days
Maximum Altitude: 5450m
Grade: Moderate - Strenuous (Average hours of walking each day: 5-6 hours)

Day 1: Starting early we trek out of Manali and climb up the western hillside towards the meadows of Lamadugh at 3380m through meadows and forests with the gentle Manalsu stream flowing down below. On reaching this thickly forested glen we set up our camp for the night.

Day 2: The trail ascends steadily through thick forests of Pine and Fir and takes us above the tree line and towards our next campsite at Riyali. From our camp we get fascinating views of the upper Beas Valley.

Day 3: Today's walk involves a steep climb towards Alyas 4500m and the base of the Kalihayni Pass. We are now above the tree line and the trail presents quite a bit of scree and moraine.

Day 4: Cross the Kalihayni Pass (4833 meters) and a steady descent takes us to our camp near a mountain stream at Donku Thach.

Day 5: Leaving the slopes we enter the lush green valley and walk steadily to the Lambapar shepherd camp. On the way we come across a few Gaddi shepherds with their woolly sheep and lambs slowly making their way to the higher pastures in the Lahaul valley known for their highly nutritious grass.

Day 6: The trail goes through a lush green valley with towering peaks all around. We pass green velvety meadows adorned with myriad wild flowers. By early afternoon we reach our campsite at Dalmarhi

Day 7: Today we reach the first village of Barabhangal from the Kullu side, which is also the winter home of the Gaddis –the nomadic shepherds of the high mountains. The scenery is mainly pastoral with lush meadows and thickly forested hillsides below towering mountains of the Dhauladhar and Bara Banghal mountain ranges. We set up our camp near the village.

Day 8: A rest day in the fascinating village of Barabhangal where we mingle with the friendly locals who will insist on your sharing a meal with them. These are simple mountain folk and are humble and extremely generous in their hospitality. We return to our camp by the evening.

Day 9: The trail after gently ascending through mist laden forests of Oak, Rhododendron and Pine presents a steep climb to the base of the Thamsar Pass. We camp just below the pass where you get excellent views of the Dhauladhar mountain ranges.

Day 10: Crossing the Thamsar Pass (4570 metres) by early morning we descend down to the tiny camping site at to Pannatu.

Day 11: The trail goes along the river and through thick woods to the tiny settlement of Palachak where we camp for the night.

Day 12: The trail becomes gentle now and follows a forest path to soon reach the small settlement of Billing the site for annual paragliding and hang gliding competitions in the summer. From here we descend to the predominantly Tibetan settlement pf Bir which also has an ornate monastery. We camp beyond the main village for the night.

Day 13: After a hearty breakfast we take our waiting Jeep to the large town of Dharamshala and then to the laid back suburb of Macleodgunj which is also the headquarters of the Tibet's government-in-exile. We check you into a comfortable hotel for the night.

Day 14: Relax for the day or take a stroll to the small Bhagsunag village a few kilometres from town. Here you can see a beautiful waterfall and also visit the sacred shrine of Bhagsu. Return to your hotel for the night.

Day 15: We leave after breakfast and drive to Delhi in about 11 hours where you check into your hotel before boarding your flight to your next destination.
