Manali Shimla Trek via Jalori Pass

Day 1: On arrival at Delhi airport we meet you and transfer you to your pre-reserved hotel. The morning is free to relax. In the afternoon we take on a half day old Delhi city tour. See the Red Fort, the mosque known as Jama Masjid both built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan many centuries ago and stroll along the narrow backstreets selling mouth watering kebabs and pilaffs. (Optional as you may want spend the day relaxing in your hotel). Return to your hotel for the night.

Day 2: We leave Delhi early after breakfast and drive to the city of Chandigarh where we arrive by early afternoon. Check into your pre-reserved hotel and then after lunch visit the famous 25 acre Rock Gardens known for its unusual figures and sculptures created out of industrial and urban waste items. We then take you to the famous Rose Gardens Asia's largest rose garden, spread over 30 acres of land where you get to see over 50,000 rose-bushes with 1600 species of this delightful flower. We then return to your hotel for dinner and the night.

Day 3: We leave after a leisurely breakfast and drive through the foothills into Himachal Pradesh and passing a few towns and numerous villages arrive at the hill resort of Manali - 2050m by late afternoon. On arrival we check you into your pre-reserved hotel. In the evening take a stroll along the Mall Road the main shopping area and if you prefer dine out at one of the finer restaurants in town. Try Chopsticks for authentic Chinese, The Mayur for excellent Indian cuisine and the Khyber for North West Indian food and Sagar for vegetarian food from Gujarat and Punjab. Return to your hotel for the night.

Day 4: After breakfast we drive down the valley to the small hamlet of Aut from where after crossing the bridge over the River Beas head west into the Banjar valley along side the River Tirthan a popular river among Trout anglers. We reach the beautiful Shoja meadows at 2355m by afternoon and set up camp besides a silvery stream.

Day 5: The walk is through thick green forests of Oak, Pine, Fir, Cedar and Rhododendron up to the crest of the Jalori pass at 3250m . We then descend towards the small green plateau of Khanag 2530m over looking the Ani stream where we stay in the age old Forest rest House or camp nearby for the night.

Day 6: We walk along a forest trail the Ani stream keeping us company till we reach the small village of Chowai passing a few other typical outer Seraj villages by evening. All along we get to see beautiful alpine flowers some of them rare and exotically colourful. We set up camp near the village.

Day 7: The trail continues downhill as we walk through forests and gently sloping hillsides till we reach the town of Ani by early afternoon. We check into a hotel or guest house for the night.

Day 8: We pass through the village of Bahna and reach the village of Luhri at 792m on the Sutlej River valley floor by afternoon. Across the Sutlej is another small village of Sainj on the main Hindustan Tibet Road. From here we board a Jeep waiting for us to drive us to Shimla which we reach by evening and check into a pre-reserved hotel.

Day 9: We take you on a tour of this historic town with its profusion of imposing Edwardian and Georgian buildings startlingly resembling a British town. The hillsides further up are home to pretty little cottages with typical British names like Holly's Home, Birchwood Cottage, Oaks End and Pinewood Lodge. After lunch we take a drive to the small hamlets of Mashobra that has an old church on a hillock surrounded by pine forests, and built in the early 2oth century; the nine hole golf course at Naldehra with its expansive greens and excellent views; and return stopping briefly at the winter ski resort of Kufri that gives you 180 ° views of the glittering snow clad Greater Himalayan ranges to the north. We return to Shimla and your hotel by evening.

Day 10: Today we drive down into the plains and back to Delhi where we take you to your pre-reserved hotel by evening.

Day 11: The last day in India we have kept this day free for shopping and a leisurely afternoon. After dinner we drive you to the International airport to board your flight home or to your next destination.
