Manipur is often described as the Jewel of India. Bordered by Nagaland to the north & Mizoram to the south this beautiful state also shares the international boundary with Myanmar to its south and west. Manipur is said was the outcome of the all the Gods' fascination with dancing and this can be seen in the grace and delicate hand movements of the famous Manipuri Dance form. The dashing sport of Polo is also said to have originated from this picturesque tucked away state. Imphal the state capital has a moderate climate and experiences frequent rainfall for about 6-7 months a year. Surrounded by lush green hills and expansive paddy fields over which hover low clouds, the town is almost like a surrealistic painting. It offers excellent accommodation and good restaurants and shopping areas. Within Manipur are ancient temples, ceremonial houses and bustling marketplaces in all the major towns. Imphal is well connected by Air and Road to almost all north eastern towns .
