Enfield Tours
Enfield ToursThe very word Royal Enfield is synonomous with bravado and reliability. Ever since it hit the roads in the year rough roads and jeepable tracks. Starting with the manufacture of sewing needles and machine parts, George Townsend & Co began dabbling in the cycling business. By 1883 its products bore the name 'Enfield' and their trademark said 'Made like a Gun'. In 1914 the company came out with the 'Ohiv Twin' motorbike. During the 1 st World War the Enfield saw war service admirably and then in 1924 it presented the first 4 stroke bike and soon six years later they were manufacturing 13 models. The Second World War saw the Enfield in active service with its 'flying flea' a bike that was extensively used by allied troops being transported and parachuted into the frontlines. Finally in 1949, the Royal Enfield was launched in India and the 350cc Bullet imported in kits and assembled in Madras came on to Indian roads and by 1950 ten models could be seen in the country. With the 350cc Bullet capturing the imagination of the adventurous biker the company introduced the 500cc model in 1993. Today Royal Enfield India manufacturers 5 streamlined models which are standing up sturdily to the newer bikes that have recently emerged into the Indian marketplace.
