Brown TroutAngling is one of the best leisure sports that test both the agility and the patience of the sportsman. Quiet moments on the banks of a gushing mountain river or stream surrounded by thickly wooded hillsides resounding with the chirping of birds can be one of the most rewarding experiences in ones lifetime. With its perennial snows, glaciers and high mountain lakes that feed the numerous streams and rivers of the state, Himachal Pradesh is a veritable angler's paradise. Of the 3000 kilometres of freshwater streams and rivers, 1200 kilometres have been identified as Trout territory. This hardy game fish was introduced into Himachal's rivers by the British as early as 1863 and has flourished thanks to the constant efforts of the state fisheries department. Two of the most sporting freshwater game fish to be found in abundance in Himachal's rivers and streams are the Trout - brown and rainbow and the Mahseer a type of giant carp found in the warmer streams and rivers in the lower hills.

At Snowbird Adventures we provide the very best of equipment: fishing rods graphite and ringal bamboo; hi-quality resilient fishing lines and top of the line artificial bait and tackles - spinners, spoons and artificial flies. We also have at hand expert river guides who know all most promising beats in the rivers. We also arrange camping at the appropriate sites or where available we book you into comfortable PWD or Forest resthouses located at some of the most scenic locations in the area. We also arrange the nominal licence fees payable to the Fisheries department. Choose from one of our packages or ask us to create one exclusively for you. The cold water-fishing season remains closed from 1 st November to 28 th February each year while warm water fishing is closed from 1 st June to 31 st July. This is strictly due to the breeding season of the fish.
